Sparks Street Ballad:

A Canadian Tale of Thomas D’Arcy McGee

written and directed by Cynthia Sugars

Presented by  Fiddleheads Musical Theatre
at the Ottawa Fringe Festival (June 3-4, 2017)

Mrs. Trotter's boarding house on Sparks Street is a lively and welcoming place where a group of young fiddlers gather for their weekly fiddle circle.  Everything is fine, until the arrival of a demanding new boarder, the famous politician and poet Thomas D'Arcy McGee.  So much noise! So many children!  He has serious work to do and cannot be disturbed.  But soon McGee himself learns a lesson about listening to others. Set during the final months of McGee’s life, this is a story about cultural differences and acceptance in celebration of Canada's 150th!

Interspersed with fiddle music from across Canada, this story will warm the hearts of young and old alike.  Great fun for all ages!
