Rehearsals

  • The Company of Adventurers Shakespeare ensemble rehearses through the summer, with performances in late August or September. We are located in Old Ottawa South (Brewer Park area), near Carleton University. Rehearsals are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 5:30-8:30, with some additional rehearsals in the production week prior to show time. Our shows are full-length productions (approx. 2 hours in length), and are performed on an outdoor stage. All productions are in Shakespearean English using a slightly shortened version of the original script.
  • Each year, we present our shows as a fundraiser for a local charity (chosen by the group each year). In past years, we have raised money for the Ottawa Humane Society, the Ottawa Mission, the Somalia Relief Fund, the Ottawa Wild Bird Care Centre, the Terry Fox Foundation, the Ottawa women's shelter Harmony House, the Ottawa Food Bank, Cornerstone Housing for Women, and the Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary.

This year marks our 10th anniversary!

We are thrilled to announce a special extravaganza production of Macbeth!

  • No prior acting experience or knowledge of Shakespeare is necessary. This is an excellent introduction to Shakespeare and acting; we also provide extended acting and performance work for experienced actors. As a cast we work on acting skills, blocking, singing, creative interpretation, and much more! The cast will be mounting a full Shakespearean production by the end of the summer and will be performing in multiple shows -- a major endeavour! Theatre is a confidence-building, enriching, and group-bonding experience. It is rewarding to watch each actor grow personally and artistically as the production comes together. What we look for in actors is enthusiasm, good humour, respect for others, and a commitment to producing a great show!
